>>104500882Binged the whole thing recently. Some rather stiff animation outside of action scenes (action scenes were definitely excellent, though). I thought the characters were nicely fleshed out and had decent development arcs. It seems like Warren Ellis has a '10+ fucks per episode' quota for everything he ever writes that was certainly met or exceeded.
The show definitely has some 90s OVA-level anime hyperviolence, in the 'yeah kill a bunch of innocents with monsters and show a dead kid's unevenly bisected head so the view knows that Shit Has Gotten Real' way, which may or may not be your cup of tea. It felt generally gratuitous, but Warren Ellis had Cobra Commander nuke Moscow when he wrote a G.I. Joe miniseries, so it's certainly on-brand for him.
I enjoyed the character banter, the background art was actually really lovely, and while they didn't use as much Castevania music as I'd like it was still cool to hear it when it kicked up.
So yeah, worth a watch, easy to binge.
