A short film is still a film, but either way this isn't the Oscars and that isn't a good comparison anyway. A mini series is still a serious. We aren't talking about which one is getting a specific reward and whether or not it is allowed to because it is a mini series. Gravity Falls? A decent chunk of what made AtLA so good was that it had an over arching plot which is something most kids shows lack. Adventure Time had one as well.

Plus everyone knew that Aang was going to find a way to wuss out and that Zuko was going to take the throne, it's not like they tried to fool us under the pretense of "cryptid and cryptic mysteries" and then just had all the symbols get together by coincidence for a giant robot boss fight.

Book 1 is pretty awful. The jokes are terrible and lolsorandum, the characters are all fucking annoying besides Iroh, the animation is frequently bad. Book 2 is mixed, plagued by similar problems but with some good episodes

Really, book 3 is the only solid season. 1 for 3 isn't a very good overall.

Over the Garden Wall was about as good. Gravity Falls was close. In my opinion, The Clone Wars was pretty close too, especially in the later seasons. Also IIRC Moral Orel came out around the same time or just after Avatar, and it was about one the same level.

Just finished watching it again and it gave me the watch to watch a new show but I am terrified to do so because I know it won't be as good.

She-Ra especially. I genuinly want to gove the show a try, but I just know it will lack all pf the subtlety that made the themes of Avatar so good.
