>>104429236-In Monster Bash they actually have a pretty cute subplot about Princess Spiderbite and slime monster hitting it off. It works well and makes you wonder how if they did that, why couldn't they do it with the actual MC of the show
-They try to go both ways with Tom being privileged royalty and sometimes being treated like a monster and supposedly living a "monster" lifestyle at home, ex. eating their food, and it just doesn't work. The show confirmed that "monster's" just an arbitrary term those in power throw around, but Tom's actually in power and it feels cheap
-Everything about Meteora is terrible. She fucking breaks the racism plot completely because her entire life feels like a justification for why racism is actually good and cool. This is going off on a tangent, but they could've implied she was sucking youth before this season. Also they sure didn't seem to have her being a shapeshifter in mind either, when she has to use makeup to hide her cheeks
-Her full monster design is fucking trash, and it's worse because they actually came up with a badass design that actually looks half-monster and feels almost like a western interpretation of some '80s anime villainess or something, and tossed it away completely after half an ep.
-They had a great opportunity to really emphasize that it's her Mewman side that's more dangerous than the monster side, ex. having her use untrained magic to wreck shit or keeping her the same size. Instead they just gave her Toffee's soul suck and have her drink the bog, smash villages to the ground, literally become a dumbass cartoon monster, etc. I couldn't believe what I was watching at first when Tough Love first aired; it felt like a complete 180 from where they seemed to be going. They deepened her voice too for some reason, which removes any sympathy, wastes the VA (her work in the Monster Bash nursery scene is genuinely great), and doesn't even fit stuff they did earlier (they didn't deepen Toffee's voice in goo form)
