>>104425873>The whole plot was a (literal) kangaroo court that Antoine set up just so he could give Sonic the boot out of petty jealousy, using the Mecha Sonic rampage as his excuse of an accusation.Yeah, that sure is a summary of the first half of the issue. Not out of place given the rest of the comics up to that point.
>#39 and the special itself made it clear that this was still a big deal to have a roboticized Sonic attacking themI mean, just as much as Crocbot was a big deal. And the Comic Book Bots were a big deal. And Metal Sonic was a big deal. The issues are literally scripted the same as every Gallagher issue, Spaz just has these big fancy pinups. They are constantly cracking jokes the entire time through 39 and the MM Special, and there's several slapstick moments anyway.
>and then #40 treats it as the set-up to a joke,40 acts as the return to normalcy, juggling the trial with Knothole getting all patched up and Sonic getting even with Nack. Everything in Gallagher's issues is a joke. Robotnik getting FUCKING NUKED was a joke in Mecha Madness.
>with the punchline being that Sonic gets to punch an unaware Antoine that's too busy planning his victory band to know that Sonic's charges have been dropped. That doesn't happen at all. The issue ends with everyone finally over what happened and happy to see Sonic...and Antoine's still tooting his own horn.
You're attributing some kind of mood whiplash to something that's in pretty much every single Gallagher story, including the very one it concludes. I'm sorry you mistook Mecha Madness for some kind of epic struggle when you were 8, but it's no more serious than Super Sonic vs Hyper Knuckles.
