The moment of two hands touching, the first breath of fresh air when you go outside on an unremarkable day, used condoms artfully arranged like petals around an overflowing wastebasket full of used syringes and other junkie garbage in the middle of a municipal park.
The cheerleader is an archetype, but she's supposed to be kind of gawky and ugly in the way that all teenagers ultimately are, and it's just.. fuck is he Lester? something like that - it's just his wank fantasy that makes her beautiful. It's the makeup the clothes the attachment of adult meaning to a child's mistaken explorations of sexual possibility. But she was never supposed to be beautiful.
I mean, I get it, and I agree with it, but it's still a shitty movie.
