The odyssey's design was absolutely balls tripping amazing.

Also, there was something eerily sexy about Shirka's disembodied voice.

Small bit of trivia, in the version I watched, Shirka shared a voice with Ellen Ripley and even Sarah Connor.

It was a silly detail but it really helped flesh the universe out.

I really liked the fact that the characters had a "casual" outfit while on the odyssey and battle gear they wore when outside.

Can't find an image of Ulysses brown shirt though.

Once upon a time in space caught me when I was still literally a baby. I knew what it was, I had seen and heard it. And there were a few old comics around that I could associate with it. But I couldn't conscioously remember any of it.

It's funny, while the other two "once upon a time" series were shown and rerun loads of times. This one never was.

Ulysses 31 has two separate "dubs" in my country. One with a full cast and one with one guy reading the dialogue over the original voices.

This show followed a VERY strict adherence to the status quo. Which I didn't mind early on, but the second half started to get rather grating, particularly following The Seat of Forgetfullness.

I was in Paris the other day and found a small retro toy shop with a toy Odyssey. Nostalgia'd out in broken French with the owner, including singing the theme songs in our respective languages, it was so great.

TSoF was in my opinion easily the best episode. It had plenty of action and all of the main cast actually being useful for once, with a strong general objective. It felt like a step-up for the kid characters.
How in the world Telemachus did not receive a fucking gun after this episode still baffles me.

Huh. That's a rather extensive history in Russia. In Poland "lektor" is a standard for non-kids foreign TV shows, but it's on its way out in cinemas. For cartoons it's no longer acceptable, I think. Beyblade's first series 15 years ago is the newest show that I remember having it.

It was in full on YT a while ago and I watched it all.
It was pretty good, if clumsy in places. Also mostly serious, aside from Nono's antics.
Wish they gave it a Voltron treatment, though they would probably turn the little blue girl into an ass-kicking badass, because grrrl power.
