>>103983439There are probably many many stars that were created about 5 billion years ago and are of the type that could allow for life to form aka anything between M dwarfs and G-types. So that's not the issue.
The issues are that having life form as we know it requires a planet to be lucky enough to be positioned in the star's habitable zone, it requires it to be massive enough and have enough convection in the core to generate a magnetic field that can block most of the harmful radiation of the star, it requires the necessary materials to exist on the planet, a whole lot of luck for abiogenesis to even occur and then even more luck so that it doesn't get bombarded constantly to the point of becoming uninhabitable and so on and so on.
And if we are talking about intelligent extra-terrestial life, a lot of more risks are added in the long-term for it to even reach that point.
