>>103905721That's the interesting thing. When Cilian thought she was rich or a noble, he gave her the gears but basically didn't try to change how she behaved. Even fucking her could be thought of as an extension of the teasing, ("Okay, you want to play dominance games? Game on").
When she realizes she's just kind of a bitch? He stops. He addresses her calmly, and refuses her offer of a "rematch". It's a significant difference. Earlier he treated her kind of paternally, (right down to the dad joke when they first met), treating whatever she said as only worth a bantering rely at worst. Now he's treating her more of an equal (in a sense).
I kind of suspect that Cilian has been tangled up with some rich woman before. The female snake version of Alduin maybe. He's come to the conclusion that some people are just rich jackasses and there's nothing for it.
I don't know, Cilian is in a weird way reminding me of Chandlers (thinly veiled homoerotic fantasy) idealized detective: "He will take no man’s money dishonestly and no man’s insolence without a due and dispassionate revenge. He is a lonely man and his pride is that you will treat him as a proud man or be very sorry you ever saw him. He talks as the man of his age talks, that is, with rude wit, a lively sense of the grotesque, a disgust for sham, and a contempt for pettiness."
Okay, in Cilian's case it's "havlin woman" instead of man and "slamfucking" instead of "revenge" but still, it applies.
