>>103883352You are seriously overestimating people's ability to recognize faces. Celebrities do the hide in plain sight thing all the time and the only reason the tabloids can get picures of their daily lives becuse people know where they live and can follow them from there.
On the other hand people don't know where Superman lives in his civilian life. He's obviously American and some people know that he lives in Metropolis, but with his superspeed and flight he can disappear while Clark appears on the other side of the city or even the world making following him difficult.
And I'm pretty sure there are many Superman look-alikes around there. Nobody would think that from all those people that awkward hunchback shortsighted reporter would be Superman. There are well known faces like writers or actors walking around in conventions without being recognized and most people who do assume they are just cosplayers dressed as themselves because why would they be walking around normal people.
You subconciously judge people based on their appearance and body language which makes people associate Superman with strength while Clark is associated with everything but strength.
Also everybody says that wearing glasses as a disguise is stupid until they start wearing glasses or switch to contacts and even their close friends have a hard time recognizing them.
So yeah, while his civilian disguise looks paper thin there are real world phenomenons and examples showing that it actually works.
Of course someone as obsessed with Superman and as smart as Lex Luthor has no excuse for not figuring it out.
