It's called the knowledge problem of central planning. All the knowledge that's distributed amongst the population can't be centralized into one group.
Red Son would have shown that even if we did have a superman with an AI more intelligent than we could ever imagine, it would still not be enough. You'd still need complete authoritarian control to even hope to have a chance.
But with just those two sentences it dashes it all to the rocks, as it turns out we just needed the right super smart guy to take over the economy. It's not that freedom is the answer to dictatorship, its that we just need the right dictator at the top! It's an awful ending because of how little would be needed to make it great.
