>>103158569>convicted>due processmotherfucker it's not a criminal proceeding. he's not going to jail. they're trying to find out who this guy is, so that they don't accidentally appoint a fucking rapist to rule on roe v wade.
that's the idea anyway. otherwise yeah there's a lot of politics surrounding it of course. i'm sure that's in her mind to a degree. but if this thing happened, just imagine that she's been bottling this shit up her whole life because she knows it'll fucking ruin her to come forward like this. And that ruination would only increase the longer she waited. but now there's a dude that she knows (once again, allegedly, this is what investigations are for) is really fucked up, and she's seeing him about to be appointed to a position with so much goddamn power, etc.
so view it from the right, it's a political move. view it from the left/her, it's an attempt to unmask this dirty fucker so that everybody is voting with their eyes wide open. and based on her social standing, her credibility, and the possibility of another witness in the room, sure sounds like at least an investigation is justified.
also remember they're pushing him through so fast and so hard, the delay this would put on the proceedings would be historically marginal.
