Only a little bit, but it would have been legitimately awful. He seemed to be using the Steve Trevor character as a mouthpiece, and the story sexualized Diana in weird ways that don't fit the character. Like at one point, she does an erotic dance in a nightclub to get a villain's attention.

What was weird about it is that it didn't really have any of Joss's usual strengths and had a bunch of new weird weaknesses. It didn't read like a Joss script to me outside of the quirky dialogue.

Maybe it was his first draft, and he would have revised it? I don't think the weaknesses were really new though, some of the same ones are in his other works, just more subtle or hidden.

Joss Whedon was always like that. He's the kind of guy who calls himself a feminist because he sees it as the easiest way to get women to like him. He's not really a feminist despite his claims. His female characters are all his type - small and waifish but strong and sarcastic. He never writes different because that would go against his type and he would have to cast actresses he's not attracted to. He takes pleasure in torturing his female characters and his behind the scenes interviews just shows that. When Angel loses his soul after sleeping with Buffy, Whedon claimed that it was because he found himself thinking that he's felt the same way before - that he's wanted to pump and dump and play with and then totally ignore girls who were totally into him and he goes on to project that feeling onto most other men. He wrote off Charisma Carpenter and killed her off unceremoniously because she got pregnant when he didn't want her to. His method of killing her off? He had her get pregnant in the show too, except it was a demon which led to her dying after giving birth. He's allegedly pit actresses against each other. Sarah Michelle Gellar and Alyson Hannigan were like best friends at the beginning of Buffy, but he started pitting them against each other. For the musical episode, Sarah told him she was uncomfortable singing because she's not the best singer. He basically told her to suck it up and gave her huge musical numbers. When Alyson said the same, he went out of his way to give her one singing line which lampshaded how she only sung one line. He's really a jerk to women.

Why was Whedon ever popular? The guy's at his best a mediocre writer and a godawful director. That someone like him got to direct two Avengers movies is complete absurdity.

It was basically Joss Whedon using Steve Trevor to tell us what he thinks feminism should be. I sort of wish it had been made because then everyone would know how shit he was sooner

Buffy was pretty good, especially when you take its time period into account, Angel was great, Firefly didn't last long enough to suck so it grabbed a massively disproportionate fanbase, Dollhouse was okay but everyone forgot about it so it didn't matter, and Doctor Horrible is basically "nerd shit 101." Most importantly, he's got a knack for picking good collaborators to cover his flaws. You can usually tell how a Whedon production will go based on who he is working with.

It was bad, but what really got to me is how it indirectly influenced my own early writing and I had no idea. I don't think people realize how much it permeated pop culture in a really negative way.

Jeezus. Honestly, when I've heard feminist critiques talking about male fear of women's bodies, I never quite got it, but after reading that, I kind of do, even if it's only some men. A demonic pregnancy as revenge on the actress? That's some twisted shit.

Peter Jackson was only shortening a longer speech from the book as well. She still does respond to the Witch King's claim that no man can kill him by saying that she's not a man, but has a more lengthy boast of her own, talking about who she is. Jackson just turned it into an action one-liner.

This is really common when you become aware of it, what writer/directors have is an opportunity to use an IRL cute girl (who is forced to like them) to play out their fetishes before their eyes. And directors are perverts and deviants just as much as animators, but using real people for it instead of sticking to the purity of 2D.

That's assuming you take it at face value. In reality, a pregnancy can completely wreck a shooting schedule and force massive rewrites. Scandal, a drama that doesn't have to choreograph action scenes or account for special effects, has a shooting schedule that is five days a week, 12-15 hours a day.

Wonder Woman was pretty forgettable. Kinda like Cap America 1 and Thor 1 stuck together.

But I don't think any writer or director can get a good performance out of Gal Gadot. I saw her in Justice League and her facial expressions and line deliveries are kind of silly.

He's a well-known and well regarded script doctor, meaning someone who gets paid a butt load of money to take a script that one or more group of people worked on and make it filmable or fix it's problems. THAT's essentially why he was brought onboard for Justice League. Just because Terrio won an Academy Award doesn't mean he can write a good cape script, of which BvS was perfect proof of it and he's got as much blame as Snyder for the way both BvS and Justice League turned out.
