Thanos is nowhere near the absolute powerhouse Darkseid is, at least not without preparation and help. He'd likely lay low in DC until he found some sort of item or something to help him become more powerful

Thanos would just be another evil genius that invents some new weird machine to take over Earth every few years. DC has lots and lots of those. He would basically be alien Luthor, only not half as interesting or compelling. As a generic alien conqueror he would still be lesser than Starro or Mongul, and not nearly as powerful as them either.

Darkseid would push Marvel's shit in pretty early since he would be a major facet of all realities that occasionally creates avatars to interact with the individual universes. He would basically be another face of the Living Tribunal that no hero is equipped to do much about.

Darkseid wouldn't really need to do much. Marvel is already a pretty fucked up place, placing a bit of his subliminal messages and a bit of antilife would mess with a shitload of heroes at Marvel (who are already doing a pretty good job at shitting in the same plate they eat).

No single cape at Marvel would be able to stop him. Unless of course, Frankling Richards is back. If he is, then Darkseid loses by having to face the son of Sue and Reed.

Thanos would get his ass kicked by any powerhouse of DC. So I guess he lays low and sets his mind in stealing the Miracle Machine or something like that.

He went one on one vs a healthy Odin with just his fists and survived. That's a powerhouse. More importantly, and this is important: He's not afraid to use tools to augment himself. He's not fixated on one, he's just as happy using the cosmic cube as he is the infinity gaintlet or a huge fucking space shit full of space lasers and shit.
