Am I the only one not ready to shit on MCU spidey until the sequel? I've always disliked the first Raimi movie but love the sequel, so for both TASM and now this I've taken the first movie with a grain of salt and see how the rest of the series turns out.

didn't totally hate Homecoming too though, that said second has a lot to prove and I don't think the MCU can deliver...but who knows, I'll be happy if just Mysterio is good
kind of doubt I'll see it any time soon after it comes out however

Anon...there's going to be so many sequels.

MCU is basically Saturday Morning cartoons. I like them because I still love Japanese Power Rangers. But...they're not really good movies or good storytelling. Raimi movies will always be whatever the fuck kino is and he's a faggot for ruining it with the third movie even with executive meddling.

I loved the Vulture, but man in retrospect his speil about the working class felt like how the MCU tried to pander to black people too... It's like...motherfuckers you make so much money... You can't really say you care about the working class when you're literally hollywood.

I liked Homecoming. It's kind of mediocre in a lot of ways but I also think it's the most balanced of the Spiderman films. I think Tom Holland is a much better Peter Parker than Tobey Maguire. Raimi had some high highs but there were are also some really bad things about his movies. Maguire wasn't the best Spiderman. Actually the Raimi films tend to have the opposite problem as most of the MCU movies in that the villains are the most memorable part of the movies. Willem Dafoe is GREAT as Norman Osborn and Alfred Molina is maybe even better as Doc Ock. I honestly don't get the love for TAS. The only good thing about that movie in my mind was Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy and really Gwen Stacy at all in a Spiderman film. I prefered Homecoming and the first 2 Raimi Films. Spiderman 3 was a mistake.

Man, I loved Homecoming. I even rather liked Iron Man being Uncle Ben, thought it was cute, fit into the mcu and lord knows we’ve seen enough of Spidey angsting about Ben in movies/media/etc.

The writers most likely assume their 90% kiddo audience might not read into it as ‘spidey realises what iron man was telling him on his own and powers through’ without a vo line. It was sort of supposed to be the movies throughline, Spiderman recognises who he is as a hero and a person even without a suit and why it’s important, etc, etc. It’s not classic spidey, but it works in context of younger spidey coming if age, joining the mcu and looking up to his local adult superheroes.

I liked MCU Vulture, he had a proper motivation that clearly became corrupted but still rang true. Then again I'm comparing him to Vulture from various animations, and the only motivation I can remember is "Be old as fuck and do crimes in a bird costume".

Lets be real, the least realistic thing about Spider-Man is that a teenage boy coyld sew a suit like that. In the Raimi movies he goes from looking like an arsehole to a finely detailed spandex suit inbetween scenes. At least Peter getting the suit from someone who has the resources to actually make the damn thing covers up some of the plot holes.

Could have done without the AI and other techno gimics, to be honest. Makes me wonder how long Tony had beem watching a pubescent boy.

It's the DCEU problem all over again - I was personally fine with Snyderman and Batpunisher, but setting them up as the definitive versions of the characters for the mainstream universe was a terrible move.

The fight and chase with Ebony Maw and Black Dwarf was the only time we've seen Spider-Man webswinging in Manhattan so far. How the hell is that acceptable?
