>"The series is, I think, groundbreaking in that it signifies the end of the cliche 'boy kills monster, boy saves girl' scenario a lot of old action cartoons seemed to latch onto. The reason Adventure Time got popular in the first place wasn't because of the action, it was because of the characters and how they grew as individuals. I mean, who's more interesting, Princess Bubblegum the trophy, or Princess Bubblegum the progressive leader who shows kids that all love is equal? I think the people who complain about the show don't really get what Pen was trying to do from the get go, or were trying to force unnecessary action and drama in a show that didn't really need it."
