The Superior Spider-Man is swinging back into action from Marvel Comics this December.

Marvel has revealed that Doctor Otto Octavius will return to his former persona in a new Superior Spider-Man series. The series is written by Christos Gage with art by Mike Hawthorne.

did he? I only read Slott and Yost. What did Gage do? Because regardless of plot stuff, I think Slott did a great job in Otto's character up until when he goes full OoC and quits

They have a lot of similarities, but Gage is nicer with the characters he writes. Most of the times, he tries make them fix their mistakes and improve themselves.
While Slott often enjoys making them screw up for the lulz.
It's obvious if you look at Pym in Mighty Avengers, and Pym in Avengers Academy.

Just make sure to read Superior Team-Up alongside it. It's a companion book that I'd say is better than the main series. The biggest complaint about Superior Spider-man I'd say is just the fact that a handful of characters need to act profoundly stupid and ignorant for the plot to work.

It's a fun romp for what it is.

Gage was Slott's designated clean-up writer who finished anything Slott was too slow to finish.

Fabian Nicieza used to do roughly the same job of finishing up anything Kurt Busiek was too slow or sick to write.

I dont understand why people like this game of thrones inspired character in a world that has a set Good vs Bad view point is beyond me.
If Superior was set in a universe where everything was actually moral grey area and the only hero is designated as the one who comes out on top, then it could work or at least make it villian vs villian thing, then it works. But like slott did before marvel will cock it up and call it another "redemption story." Btw does slott know what redemption means? I know #800 already teased him going back to the old costume but still, does this mean they will treat this Otto as a different character from the original fatty? He is a clone after all and at this point is pretty clear that SpOck has a fanbase but i don't see them giving up on original Ock forever.
Also i hope in the book he'll go with a different name than Spider-Man or at least people will call him differently, like Kaine who wanted to be called Black Spider but everyone kept calling him Scarlet Spider so he just went with it.

Who said anything about replacing? Peter’s not going anywhere and SpOck is operating on the opposite side of the country. Besides, anyone savvy towards Marvel’s style knows that SpOck is only gonna last so long as the solo does and once the book comes to an end, they’ll probably spend the last arc undoing any character development he may have gained and reverting him to Doc Ock, most likely getting rid of the current body and putting him into something akin to his old body
