Why did they permakill the most interesting of the Dark Knights, while keeping the Batman Who Laughs? Any of the other members would’ve been great villains to their counterparts Justice League, especially the Drowned and Dawnbreaker. Just seems like wasted potential.

He’s the Joker. Like, that’s literally all he is. He has the same speech patterns, the same dialogue style, etc. The only difference between the new guy and the original, is that the former is slightly more competent. And it’s only slightly.

Thank Christ. Aquaman needs more recognizable baddies, and they didn’t do nearly enough with the Drowned, which is especially galling after killing Sea King from Earth-3 as the Crime Syndicate invaded.

Aquaman doesn’t ever get good stuff from crossovers.

Joker is Batman with a clown motif, remember that time he was able to kill over twenty police inside GCPD with the lights off without making a sound? Or how he’s able to make gadgets and gasses on par with Batman’s tech. Joker is just clown Batman, Batman who Laughs is just embracing the fact.

Why do people insist that BWL is the joker? What makes him endearing is the fact that he is NOT the joker. Or batman either. By mixing them you get something that is different enough from the 2. If you want to compare him to any existing bat rogue, the closest one would probably be Dr Hurt, since they are both platonic embodiments of evil wearing batman costumes and serving cosmic destruction. The different being that BWL is infinitetly more marketeable and has more normie appeal, which is probably why /co/ has so much animosity towards him.

I think the horse has already left the stable on this one, chief. BWL is the only member of the Dark Knights that doesn’t have Bruce’s usual speech patterns or word choices. He talks and behaves like the Joker. He’s fine in concept, and has potential in the right hands, but as he has been written thus far, he’s just another Joker.

A major trait of the character is that his voice is exactly the same as Bruce's. I think that's one of the reasons I like him, reading his lines in Batman's voice creates an uncanny feeling that makes him stand out among the other batmen. Also batman's deep, gruttural laugh feels more fitting for an embodiment of evil than the joker's more acute laugh.
