I don't really like the show myself but from the episodes I have seen I think they have a really, really solid knowledge of the genre they're writing, and the formula they established, and they stay loyal to it at the cost f EVERYTHING else. EVERYTHING in the stories stays loyal to those themes and so it gives it a really solid core and sense of consistency.
What sets it apart from other shows in particular is that when i say EVERYTHING, i mean the characters too. Most shows service the characters before the universe. Venture Bros is the opposite. The characters are 100% at the mercy of this universe/genre/setting as well. I can't think of any other show that could have a twist reveal that two of the main characters are actually disposable clones, and have it WORK, and not be purely comedic.
A lot of shows who are outlandish enough to even have that as a theme would immediately start capitalizing on the clone thing as a joke, breaking the universe's own rules by suddenly having it appear over and over again when before it was a huge secret. This takes a lot of self control on the show's part, to show it, just when it's needed, and when the universe itself would call for it naturally, and not for any kind of pointless gag otherwise.
Personally the show is a little too cynical for me to enjoy regularly but I can admire its quality.
Also I think there's a way OP could've worded their post without relentlessly shitting on other shows for no goddamn reason.
