>>102721936Yeah, and one of the "Let's copy PUBG" clones, Fortnite, is now richer than god.
That's just one example, yeah, but there are a huge number of similar examples in the videogame space where version 2 of somebody' game (or business) strikes a chord and becomes an international phenomenon: original thought is not a pre-requisite to make billions.
Despite all that though, businesses like new thoughts too, there's a reason why big companies get boners for trying shit like AR/VR: What if one of them gets big and they did no exploration of the space? The novelty is exciting.
I'm serious when I say that if you have more "original thoughts" than the current prevailing business people in a space, and can back up those thoughts by showing some kind of market demand for them, please, bootstrap a company and seek out capital: someone will give it to you the moment you tell them about your rabid early customers, and if you're right that more will come thereafter, cut 10 million off your billion dollar wad and, on my behalf, give it orgs trying to help kids who aren't getting enough food: It's criminal that some kids literally have to skip meals.
