Won't happen. The whole selling point for the Kessel incarnation of Hawk and Dove is that Hank and Dawn love each other but won't fucking say it, because Hank's a right wing zealot and Dawn's a highbrow pacifist hippie type.

Also, Hank's brother Don (the original Dove) was a fuck machine who slept with Donna AND Lilith, which is why Hank refuses to be with the Titans anymore, since Donna Troy believed Don's stories about Hank being an abusive shit to him growing up, causing her to actively HATE Hank's guts.

Ostrander's Spectre run basically was quasi-Vertigo level stuff and pretty edgy as hell. Even moreso than the 70s era Steve Orlando/Joe Apro stuff that got canceled midway through the run for being edgy crap that revolved around Spectre killing people in gruesome ways. Also, Orlando was the first writer to explicitly state that Spectre got his powers from God himself whereas even the late 80s Spectre comic still went with the vague "The Voice" stuff as to who was behind Spectre's powers.

Someone claiming to be an insider said that Fraction hasn't signed with DC yet, because they are demanding him and Kelly Sue move all of their indie shit from Image to DC. That DC is super trying to get Matt to sign with them, but they want Matt's indie work to shore up Vertigo and so forth, which he refuses to do since he would also have to fork over the movie and TV rights to Warner Brothers as well.

Also, I'm shocked they aren't putting Kelly Sue on Hawk and Dove. Partly to try and recapture the Kessel married vibe (Karl Kessel based the Hank/Dawn pairing on him and his wife) and to make Kelly Sue bend the knee and suck conservative cock via writing a right wing character to show that DC isn't pozzed.

First two volumes cover the first 16 or so issues, I think. They haven't done any more collected.

The whole series is available in HD digital on Comixology, though. Someone really needs to storytime it. I would, but I don't have the digitals and I don't feel like scanning over 60 issues.

It's a kind of hard run to just take pieces from, because the whole thing is about one man's road to understanding what is evil, what is worthy of punishment, what is justice, and what can I do to make this world a better place than the one it was when I died?

Every issue leading up to the end where he finally gives up the mantle of Spectre and rests in peace helps him come to terms with these questions, and viewing them out of context can be jarring and off-putting if you don't have the full story. A good example is how Jim basically hates gay people and wants to Spectre-ize them, then throug the story, that perspective changes and evolves when he sees there are gay people in heaven and Michael basically changes his perspective on sexuality and sin.

It's a really good run, but IDK if it works as a "let me just take a piece from it" storytime. I seriously think someone needs to do the whole thing from start to finish one of these days. Would actually make a great Halloween storytime.

I was thinking about doing that storyline specifically because it was related to the foundation of America and the kinds of people who were excluded from it, but it does lose some context without knowing about what Jim has gone through (and how he was also a part of that as a man living in the 1910s-1930s).

A perfect example of only looking at a single event without context is mentioning the total destruction of Vlatava as a "look how crazy the Spectre is." People don't usually hear about how Corrigan was losing faith in his role because he failed to save a person that he loved, and that someone behind the scenes had been manipulating the series of events that made him lose faith.

Also the lead up to Black Dawn and Black Dawn itself was one of the best Superman arcs in recent times. Also, collecting the series is pretty hard because the last couple of issues had a super small print run made even harder to find, because Ostrander introduced Mr Terrific (the modern black version from the Geoff Johns run) in the last couple of issues of Spectre, meaning they go for about $100+ a pop

Abnett's Titans had so much promise but it was doomed from the start when Booth was revealed to be the artist. The first arc was the best, a solid 7/10, but Booth's art r e a l l y makes me want to drop that number.
I think Abnett had more stories to tell with that group, but Snyder and editorial forced him to do a new line up, focus, and stories.

It's more a lack of interest than anything. When a mediocre book is storytimed it's not going to get a lot of flak because it's kind of boring to make fun of mediocrity.
