No, they really weren't. It's Adam and The Gang phoning it in 3 movies in a row. This series does NOTHING original, nor interesting with the concept of monsters living in the modern world.

Do vampires even turn humans in this setting? Like Mavis is a natural born vampire from two vampire parents, it might not even work that way.
I am way overthinking a children's cartoon movie about monsters too much.

That's a novelization. That means it's a book that you read. I wouldn't doubt you'd be extremely disappointed just staring at it as if it's supposed to move around and make noise like a movie.

Everyone stopped giving a shit. "Dracula runs a hotel or whatever" is barely enough to fill out the plot of one movie.

It still made $400+ Million though, so assuming they can still get Selena Gomez in the studio, expect Part 4 where Drac has to go back to monster school with his grandson for some bullshit reason in about 3 years. G-Rated Billy Madison references included.

I saw it dubbed with my niece because she wanted to go to the movies with me for her birthday, and I actually thought she was originally being voiced by Amy Schumer and that's why they stuck her fat face with a chin on a slim body.

Let's not oversell it - 1 and 2 were *passable*. They weren't particularly outstanding, but they were competently made and there was every indication that the people making and acting in the movies were at least enjoying themselves.

3 was just people cashing a paycheck.

Don't forget the second movie where he tricks his daughter into going on a vacation, just so he can kidnap the kid and try to make a man out of it. Drac's completely fucked in the head yet it's played for laughs every time. Of course his daugther doesn't know any better because he's fucking brainwashed her for a hundred years.

I can't help but think the character was going to be really different before Adam Sandler came in. Even the designs of Dracula were spooky, before they changed it to just be Sandler's stupid face.
