This is what I hate about most "Lovecraftian" things. They treat The Great Old Ones and cultists like they're monsters to shoot at. They miss the point entirely of what scared Lovecraft so much. The fear of madness and the unknown. The futility of the human experience. The ancient things that supersede our understanding of reality. You can literally do Lovecraftian horror without EVER referencing or using his mythos, and un-creative retards don't seem to understand that.

Read The Music of Erich Zann to see what I'm talking about. It's easily one of the most discomforting, unnerving pieces of fiction in his body of work.
