I will agree that She-Ra as a character has a lot more potential than He-Man as a lead protagonist, and that both Hordak and Skeletor provide lots of drama considering one is her father figure and the other her biological uncle, but that said, I think Eternia as a setting is far better than Etheria, and is home to a much better supporting cast.
Now, if you could say that the Horde had conquered Eternia, and placed Man-At-Arms as head of the Rebellion over Angella. Maybe combine Light Hope into the Castle Greyskull somehow. Keep Bow as the male friend, but replace Glimmer with Teela, maybe incorporate Skeletor's Evil Warriors INTO the Horde and play a "Starscream" angle with him (albeit more subtly)...
I'm getting derailed and fanwanking now, but I think She-Ra really does need to borrow HEAVILY from MOTU's toybox to actually be great
