"Phoenix Rises" - When the Greens' dog, Phoenix, runs away from home, the family sets out to find her.

I am looking forward to both Amphibia and Owl House - but if they're anything like Star Vs., I'm gonna have hard time liking either. Damn shame if that happens, too - maybe if the characters in both are likable enough and don't try so damn hard to be funny as an excuse for a lack of action and proper storytelling, we should be alright. I expect both fanbases (provided Amphibia gets one and something Owl House will definitely get immediately, judging how that's what's all the rave right now.) to be cancer, regardless.

I unironically love the fuck outta BCG, despite its flaws, BTW. Thanks for the latest episode(s). The sites I usually get my shit from are fucking up way too much for my liking.

I really like how BCG doesn't take itself too seriously while also taking small jabs at city life and showing how hillbilly farmers don't act like their stereotypes like in the episode where they had that bed and breakfast with the "authentic" guests. I also like how they draw the chickens in the show, they look so huggable and cute.

They all have something I don't like about them and it disappoints me that this board is so quick to jump on the sexist misogynistic projection assumptions and won't let anyone not praise them.

I admit it, I can't actually describe why I don't like some of them, but that's more a problem not being able to find the right words rather than not being able to know exactly why and coming off as TRYING to hate it. Trust me, with as many cartoons that are coming that are focusing on women I'd love to handle some of them since they're practically the only options coming.

I think it's the humor, something that's been apparent in most 2010 shows with how they talk and joke, but is for some reason kicked up a notch in female shows (either created, heavily crew-focused, or character wise). Like, I fucking hate Star in Star Vs, she's pretty much the epitome of an obnoxious female character, and what she doesn't do Pony Head finishes. I should clarify while I despise Magical Girl shit, that isn't even my main problem with Star. It's the voice, her actions, how she says her lines, what it is she's saying, everything.

There isn't much of Star's personality in these upcoming shows from what I can tell but just the overall quirk in their personality can show up, and the writing WILL be the same in most, because that's just the trend right now.

Infinity Train bugged me from the Pilot because of Tulip's type of character, but damn did they just make her even more annoying and unlikable by giving her that cunt face. That mixed with her personality is just the worst damn shit.

We don't need Hilda. We don't need Disenchantment. We don't need Los Casagrandes. We don't need girl rocketeer.

Today's BCG was a real good "summer finale". Can't wait to see how the status quo shifts now that their mom isn't a total mystery, definitely wasn't the outcome to that question I expected but the unpredictability is a good thing (I would've expected her to be dead and that being used for easy emotional manipulation in a holiday episode).
In a couple weeks I'm definitely going to rewatch all of them, crazy we've gotten ~16 more segments than COTC in like half the time and that Disney still sticks to a 30 minute premiere format, it's been a nice sorta nostalgic accompaniment with breakfast for the last couple months.
Also tell me pic related is Remy's catchphrase please

btw OP Chris and Shane both refer to this as the "summer finale" on Twitter, if it were the season finale they'd say so, think they're just going on hiatus for a bit (I believe Disney also only orders in chunks of 13 or 26 so we probably have 8 more half-hours left in this season, plus the confirmed S2)

I know right, I loved just how high the stakes were in the episode with the karate kick, the drift, and the dog mystery mom reveal and backstory. Never would've thought that BCG was going to have a reoccurring villain if you can call it that and also a buddy duo between Gloria and Cricket
I think it was the season finale right? Also I think that catchphrase is a common one used in a lot of shows, but I may be wrong.

Also I think I have heard "wowee zowee" used in a cartoon before but not as a character's catchphrase. It actually traces its "popular" origins to a 60s Frank Zappa song from which Pavement's drummer adopted as something he said frequently and became the album title. I'm sure plenty of people have absorbed it and used it without having a clue towards the reference but I would get a kick out of it if Remy started saying it often and we got some confirmation it was directly related to either of the weird music sources

I think somewhere along the line, the popular thought process for evaluating the quality of shows turned into: "if you can't think of, and articulate a reason why a show is bad, then it's good." This dovetails well with the other common evaluation: "if a show makes a 'statement' or is 'representing' some group/cause, then it's good." You're right, we neither need nor want the majority of these shows, especially the ones coming out now. We are all simply parked in front of a trough waiting for whatever slides into it, fooling ourselves and each other that what is provided for us is more than mediocre.

I was talking to a friend about this kind of thing, and I was on the side that CN has good cartoons, not 9/10's but solid 7/10 or 8/10. While he thought most were 3/10 and he watches a lot of show, but perhaps I am just fooling myself. I mean I do get real enjoyment watching these shows, but that might just be because I have a passion for animation. Idk.

Disney definitely must have changed their policies as Alex Hirsch explicitly stated at one point that he wanted S2 to be shorter but they were only willing to order the standard 26 episodes.

Well OP, you did BCG dirty and even then it was more or less the same. Yes, the thread did last for 11 hours yet there's less than 60 responses. Whether or not /co/ cares about this show, still ain't right to do this even if it does mean the thread will be alive, there was two BCG threads that were made today and died because everyone who's a fan was in this pseudo-thread. Nigga, all we're getting is a Halloween episode in two months. And if Disney's shitty scheduling is any indication, they'll further validate putting the show right back on hiatus since they'll be leaving us with a half-hour special, something that they can overhype and advertise along all the other Halloween-themed episodes that'll be premiering on Disney Channel in October.

I'll be surprised if we even get any new episodes after this Halloween special before 2019.

Even disregarding Wendi McLendon-Covey's ignorant Instagram spoiler last month, it would've been great if Disney hadn't practically given away that the Mama Green reveal would be in this week's new episode: https://youtube.com/watch?v=4ipMXzDa5vg

This reminds me of that time they outright spoiled that notPnF's season 1 finale would lead into its much-anticipated crossover: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mqKXjFYLpo4

It would've been so cool to just walk into that episode not knowing Doofenshmirtz would suddenly show up at the end.

Disney really needs to rethink the way they advertise new episodes with big reveals or cliffhanger endings. You'd think promoting a mystery show like Gravity Falls for four years would've prepared them for times like this. Remember how surprised everyone was with the climax of SU's "Lion 3: Straight to Video"? That's 'cause CN actually refrained from giving away Rose's unexpected appearance.

My point is that I would've enjoyed "Phoenix Rises" a lot more if I'd been given the chance to blindly tune in to the episode thinking it was just about Cricket looking for his missing dog.

I don't know, I didn't think much of it. But then again it was alluding to it with the previous episodes like when Tilly took care of the baby chicks. It does ruin the point of the mystery and subtle hints as to when she is coming though. I mean I guess I was hyped, but not that hyped. But completely understandable.

The only one that feels even remotely different is Disenchanted and only because it's an adult comedy (though that's a whole another can of worms).
The rest feel like they are or will be the same quirky "relatable" shit with action and horror elements where all evil is comedic.
