I respect the hell out of their production quality, but the overall direction always falls flat for me. The scene arrangement is always a little too awkward, the pacing a little ungainly, the dialogue a little too wordy. I can't help but feel like they'd benefit enormously from bringing in a really good storyboardist or scenarist who knows how to take full advantage of the medium of animation.
Maybe I should give Camp Camp another shot and see if my gripes are addressed in later episodes.
