I don't hate it because it's made up, I hate it because it clearly signifies it's some WHACKY new thing instead of any of the many scrapped concepts they could have turned into a movie, like the Resisty/Meekrob alliance, Invader Dib, etc.

You know that arc in the comics where Zim was set up to confront a bad guy with a grudge against him and it turned out to be a brand new character instead of Tak, for no good reason? That's why I don't want the movie to be entirely new stuff; it would be as inconsequential as the random, wacky comics. The show's cancellation robbed us of adventure and lore. The comics chose not to give us much of these things. If the movie ignores them too, what's the point?

I'm afraid it's always been like this though. As much as I love the lore in the Zim universe, I've accepted that it's always going to be put in the backseat while the comedy and adventure go up front.

A team of creative people bouncing ideas around, vs. one guy banging out a script on his own. And then a team of designers and stupendous board artists working around the clock vs 1-2 artists with a one-note art style.

The art for this issue were especially garbage. It looks like art from flash banner ads in the mid-2000s. They can't even do a basic movement pose.

Man it sucks to see such a unique creative cartoon watered down and shat out like this.

He's right too, the comic is flat out depressing. To me it's the phoned in writing that stands out more than the art. Each issue only having one writer isn't enough to explain how lazy and awful it is.

I actually really liked the silliness of the show and never really cared about lore, but imo the quality of the comic just doesn't even meet the bare minimum. Can't find anything enjoyable about it.

Oh, I see. I respect that. Got to admit, as much as I enjoy the comics, I really miss hearing the VAs when reading some of them. I feel like they enhanced the written dialogue of the show back then through just funny line delivery alone. Without that element in the comics, some of the random humor comes off flat sometimes.

Yeah, great acting can really do wonders for carrying things through the parts where the script alone falls flat. Plus of course it makes the well written parts just that much better. The show had a damn talented cast.
