>>101550354But as I pointed out by making the Mr. A comparison, the art wasn't inherently at odds with his philosophy. And at the same time, as was the case with the Green Goblin's identity, Stan Lee's editorial work more than likely meant that any philosophical ideas from Ditko were left on the cutting room floor.
But that still cements the main point that it's reasonable for people to read Ewing's panel as an attack on Ditko. If I became a hit writer and then came out and said that a lot of my work was inspired by Unqualified Reservations and I'm a big believer Moldbug's ideas of Patchwork and Formalism, then someone else used my characters to expressly say "Moldbug was terrible" I think it would be pretty fair for me to take that as a personal attack, no?
>>101550396We're still a long ways off from the Days of Rage, yes, but again, we're seeing how violence works. I should probably have highlighted the attack on Richard Spencer instead as a better example of political violence. But the thing is, it explains how lefty radical action is carefully planned, organized and executed (attempted shutdown of ICE, harassment of administration officials while they eat, etc.) while righty radical action is limited mainly to decentralized, loosely-connected "lone nuts" (James Fields, Atomwaffen, etc.) Also, I don't really understand how anyone can look at the current climate and insinuate that we need MORE violence rather than less. It suggests to me that you're either not being serious, you're incredibly alienated so as to believe that you're not going to be affected by the upswing in violence or you're somewhat sociopathic and want people to be maimed and/or killed.
