>>101411427>>101411446This reminds me of a critique/comparison of BnHA and Marvel superheroes : the characters in My Hero have a clear, distinct quirk, and the stories play with that quirk, and how teammates cooperate. Marvel heroes might start with a single idea, but as time goes on they accumulate new powers, new features, sometimes even different personality traits. The Marvel heroes turn into catch-all supernatural creatures, having less and less dinstinction from the others, and less utility for the stories. We had a Wolverine, but now how many Wolverines do we have (I can think of four: Logan, X-23, Sabertooth, Deathstrike)? How many Wolverine-alikes do we have in the Marvel Universe setting?
Why do we like Piotr Rastputin so much? It's not because he's a strong-guy with tough skin, and it's not because he looks shiny and shows off his muscles: How many gentle-giant caring artist immigrants does Marvel have? I'd bet just the one.
