>>101322133You want to know the real problem with DC?
They don't tell stories.
They have a giant cosmology full of color and creativity and they just sit on it like landlords on undeveloped land.
Back in the day Superman had several stories per book. Gardner Fox would cross over the JSA and JLA to solve a crisis in one issue, two if it was something like the fate of the multiverse at stake.
What would be told in a single issue is now stretched across an entire year-long event. Metal would have been 1 or two issues back in the day. The same with Justice no Justice or Doomsday Clock.
We got all this lore, a whole multiverse of possibilities, and no one does a damn thing with it. Or they trickle the characters and ideas down drip by drip.
Can we get a fucking multiverse anthology already? 52 neat ideas and DC just doesn't explore them. Instead here's Damage, the not-Hulk.
Look at Doomsday Clock. A shit ton of waiting just to bring back JSA and Legion who Johns has been hoarding to tell his le epic watchman fanfic. The most exciting thing about JSA is simply that it takes the chains off the IPs.
That's the state of DC at the momment--people are excited for it to just get off its ass and USE THE SETTING AND CHARACTERS ONLY THEY CAN USE BY LAW.
