Just saw Isle of dogs illegaly on a streaming website, holy shit this movie was fucking good
normally my shit attentionspan makes me skip atleast 30 minutes of a movie but i was focused the entire time here

saw it in theaters and i really enjoyed. the acting and dialogue weren't the best, but they weren't bad at all either. people will chock it up as how wes anderson writes but whatever. the backgrounds and sets though were astounding. every scene was utterly beautiful. great movie

it's still pretty basic, it may feel pretentious compared to pixar WHAT A TWIST villains but it still is pretty straight forward. The things i could consider "pretentious" in this movie are the art style, the setting and design choices. And those are all there from the get go, once you are sold on the premise there isn't anything throughout the movie that makes you feel 2deep4u

Watched this with my mom in the theater. She feel asleep during the middle part. Afterwards she described it as an “anime” and now actually looks up movies before seeing it instead of trusting my opinion. Still, I really liked it, even if it is definitely flawed.

I thought the movie was overall great, yet the ads made it look so much more 'friendly' when really dogs straight up hang themselves with leases, starve to death in cages, and bloodshed. Mfw I saw this on my birthday hoping for a good time, it was a good sad time.

Other than that, I loved the stopmotion with all sorts of small details and nice touch-ups. Also the story was mostly fine with a few weird parts like when the dogs were heading towards the incinerator, admittedly I didn't think they would die, but it kind of frustrated me to see them get separated both because they no longer got that much screen time and also I knew they weren't going to kill them off, but oh man if they straight up did, I might've cried. Plus there was that hacker kid which saved everyone, but how can you hack a tool to go reverse into the suits, and why were they connected in the first place?

Aside from minor complaints, good shit.

I wasn't the only person there but the theater was pretty sparse, though that may be because of that being the last day the movie would be showing there. It wasn't even showing for a week there, it premiered Friday and the last showing was on the next Wednesday.
