Stark's always been that way, especially in the 70s-90s, but that was what made him an interesting hero. He wasn't le quip master and he wasn't edgy, but he got shit done when he wasn't having a mental breakdown. Part of his character was how he always saw the bigger picture, and would make choices on that over the classic "hero saves a life one at a time."

I don't remember anything in particular. Really, Tony has no friends even in the basic Avengers roster. Or at least no "friends". Apart from the odd case where they need to bring up that he's a "war-brother" to Cap, and sometimes Thor. But apart from them, he doesn't have any relationship with the rest. He sometimes is friendly with Banner and Widow, but these are pretty much just average crossovers. I honestly think he's incapable of having real friends.

What about Beast, the Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver? They were fellow Avengers and interacted a lot.

None of those are "best friends". The most he's ever been associated with a mutant is Wanda, due to Force Works, and their "relationship" was as professional as it got. You could make an argument for Cap, Spider-Man and some others for having Mutant friends, but Stark's as far removed from that as it gets.

And that's it. I'm not saying Tony's wrong, but throughout this whole sequence, he was pretty much talking and act like a villain would. It's why I consider him so terrifying if he were to go all out and be serious about it. I did find it pretty silly though that nobody sided with him through this whole bit.

Not too surprising, this happens anytime writers need him to be the "evil" strawman. And when he does have people side with him no one else gets the same amount of shit as him, if at all.
