I'd say X-Men is the closest thing, but all the silly outfits keep it from doing so. Morrison's run is the closest it came, but Nostalgiafags had to ruin everything.

Kinda, yeah. Eva had tacticool. I'm talking about stuff like the Claremont era tights. I've got no problem with Astonishing or Utopia era Scott's look, for example.

Nah, I'm /co/ all the way. Eva is the only /a/ I've ever watched. I'm on Ep20 now, and I got this idea for an X-Men fanfic done in an Eva style. So I figured I'd come here to shitpost, and if the thread got off the ground, casually mention it.

Evangelion is literally deep psychological Ultraman with monsters of the week and a robot that is driven by plot. The pilots are untrained children with special connections to their mecha. There is not combined fire support or any dose realism.
