>>101044072It's something of a grey area. Nothing is really known about the Umiak client races.
They might all be dead, or the might be just fine.
The Umiak aren't monsters, they just push their own ethos and culture onto others (much like everyone else does).
The Umiak are hard workers, big into the good of the group, self-sacrifice, etc and as such expect the same from the races under them.
They expect you to aid the war effort (usually in the form of resources) but don't seem too interested in messing with you otherwise.
So there is a chance that if Humanity were to ally with the Umiak, we'd keep some semblance of self government (besides some rules about not talking to the Loroi) but it'd cost us every resource in the solar system and colonies being strip mined for the war effort.
The Umiak might even offer cybernetic technologies to us to, ya know, help us not die out as a result of having lost all resources.
They wouldn't even see it as a bad thing as this is something they literally do with their own people.
When the Umiak colonize a planet, they don't bother with terraforming; they just genetically or cybernetically modify the colonists to suit the environment.
As such they don't really care about pollution either, as they can just keep modifying the population to adapt to the toxic environment.
