>>101003348Jasper and Lapis were close and wanted to be fused together for different reasons but their relationship wasn't romantic, Pearlose is a relationship that could be considered romantic because it wasn't just built on codependency like Jaspis, but both are unhealthy and kind of stockholm syndrome-y
Jasper and Lapis are meant to represent a toxic relationship that went from Jasper just wanting to use Lapis to help her beat the CGs, to Lapis forcing Jasper to stay in a fusion and isolating her under the ocean because she felt like she needed to have control over someone and take her anger out on them, to Lapis becoming dependent on that feeling of control over Jasper and Jasper wanting to submit to Lapis' abuse just to be with her again because she gained a dependency on Malachite's power and probably gained an emotional attachment as well considering her behavior afterwards and the fact that she was still depressed about it in Earthlings
Pearlrose is a fucking slave obsessing over the master they were made for and programmed to love and obey without question, and the master using and betraying the slave over and over again without taking their feelings into consideration, but Rose did feel love towards Pearl too even if she was a pretty big cunt to her so I think it could be considered kind of romantic
Lapis and Peridot also have an unhealthy relationship, but it isn't codependent like Jaspis or obsessive like Pearlrose, it's mostly Peridot putting aside her own feelings and putting too much effort into constantly placating a depressed person just to be their friend even though Lapis is mostly just interested in herself and isn't willing to put as much effort or loyalty into building a relationship with someone else
Some crew members probably like Jaspis because the relationship was pretty complicated and important for Lapis and Jasper's characters, and Rebecca probably likes it because she likes exploring fucked up shit and was using it to vent
