I dont get how a story were everyone is an ass-hole bar the narrator character, Superman opens what is outright called a Gulag, most of the characters die to a nuke, and the ending is the heroes deciding to give up and go back into regular society is somehow seen as a return to the hopeful and optimistic comics of yesteryear. Comics like Alan Moore's Supreme, Flex Mentallo, etc. all do more to resurrect the 'classic' idea of the Superhero than Waid did.
