>>100944372Marvel and DC had some good writers during the middle/late 2000s who they never did anything important with or fucked over in various ways. Fred Van Lente (who created Carmilla), Jeff Parker, Mike Carey and Sean McKeever off the top of my head. Carey did the best but hasn't been seen in years. The rest kept getting (or keep getting in Parker's case) low level books that nobody reads despite how good they are.
McKeever probably got it the worst. His two highest profile books were Young Allies and Teen Titans. I assume he's not great with teams but Young Allies had the problem of running at the same time as the much more popular Avengers Academy with a similar focus (young/teen heroes) and Teen Titans... well, McKeever's gone on about how that run was him getting fucked over by editorial the way Kelly and Seagle's X-Men runs did. His best stuff tended to be focused on solo characters i.e. Gravity, Sentinel, Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane and Nomad. I can't even remember the last comic he wrote.
Shit, speaking of Academy I'll throw Christos Gage in there too. Very solid writer, rarely ever gives you anything bad and in fact is usually pretty good. Outside of Academy though he's only ever brought in for fill in stuff, low level tie in one shots and whenever Slott needs help with an issue. Apparently Gage was a writer for the Netflix Daredevil show though and is one of the writers along with Slott for the PS4 Spider-Man game.
