Animal Man was good, but I'd pick Swamp Thing and I Vampire over it.
Batwoman was great, though. That is, until that arc where she was fighting a vampire lady or some shit, dropped the book around that time.

As for why Kate should be fighting the supernatural, I think it's twofold - the Religion of Crime, which has a mystical, weird nature to it, and because J. H. Williams really wanted to draw that nonsense.

Yeah I didn’t buy the trades because the options were: buy only the good ones and have an awkward collection that ends abruptly, or keep buying the rest to finish the series and basically throw away money for a few trades that are garbage just to make the collection more even.
