Transformers Prime was faithful to what Transformers was. Flipping the script and waiting forever and backing down from the "AMERICA FUCK YEAH" attitude that made the original successful in the first place gave us a boring show.

The toys didn't sell THAT great (probably cuz they were just shunted into an Anniversary line). Then they took a break for the movie
sequel, and then the character designer died.

Well part of the reason was the character designer died. And then they put it on hiatus because the second movie was coming out. Now why they would pull it off the air when a movie was out was beyond me. Seemed counter productive.

Hasbro also had toys for it ready to go but they didn't release them for some reason (which pissed me if, thankfully we at least got the Amazon exclusive pack).

It had production problems since season two and barely struggled to finish with a movie only because Hasbro wanted to pad their portfolio with movie shit.

It's closest modern analog is in video games, yes.
Although I think Metal Gear Solid, with it's mixture of political cynicism, outlandish characters, and genuinely weird bullshit is probably a better analogue to the best of GI Joe.

Pursuit of Cobra went away much faster than it deserved.

You know what really irks me about Renegades?
The fact that despite it being a great show, a lot of the godawful GI Joe fandom outright rejected it for using (S&P approved) goop monsters and laser weapons because they want GI Joe to be /k/: the Series.

I just want the D&D movie to either be based loosely on one of the official settings and stories, or at least be aboit kids or young adults playing the damn game and the story jumping between the table and the fantasy world and showing allegory or metaphor or parraleles with the troubles of their lives and how they express and or work through it in game.

Read the post before thr post I replied to. 2021 as part of a slate of Hasbro film properties in production.

The second one was good, I just wish the third one had gelled more with the content WoTC was putting out at the time instead of being a bland story that was solved in part by a Wizard finding her faith and multiassing as a Cleric in the most contrived self ignorant story thread they could have gone with.
