During some Night of the living dead sequence, the ghost of that asshole with the scroll to teach the group how to fly was ressurected and tried to take over Ninjago with wax possesed replicas of previous villains. Because of this, Cole had begun to cease to exist because reasons and quite literally had to beat some forgiveness into the dead sensei in order to continue existing. Ended up getting his body back as a result as well as appeasing those that died in the temple.

I preferred him as a ghost, it made him more interesting. They could have done a whole side-arc with him developing as an earth spirit.

I mean another explanation is literal Cosmic retcon too, last season had two masters who could control aspects of time manipulation create a time machine in order to reshape history and become God Kings and I dont even think they were even stoppped. The Machine still activated and Kai and Nya's parents are still fighting these guys in the machine.

I think that was back in season 2, when the Mega weapon got jettisoned into space after being hit with the past versions of its original counterparts, the golden weapons. Since it got "destroyed" in the past, but didn't, all the wishes Garmadon used in the season got rendered null and void.

That thing shows up again a couple seasons later when its found on a Haley's comet rip-off with alien bugs guarding it. Guess time cant heal all wounds.

That's the thing about this show, its very blood lives off being a storm of clichés and trying to make things "Cool but with LEGOS!" The seasons have been slowly getting better and more serious despite how ridiculous it is

First it was actual dragons, then it was hydra dragon, then when that one went and fucked off, they made THEIR own dragons out of their power, then two of them decided "Hey, we can Fuse our dragons cause Why not!" to finally maybe retconning via time shenanigans into never having the elemental constructs in the first place?

He helped fight off the reborn Overlord spirit and a Mad man who wanted to turn himself and his cultists into the most powerful serpentine tribe and kickstart another Serpentine war. He sacrifices himself at the end of the season for a ritual in order to trap the Shen and free the original Anocondrai general spirits trapped in the afterlife who now only want peace. After that the ninjas nuke the universe's afterlife who apparently was sentient and wanted to rule over the entire multiverse with an army of ghosts with Nya's Water powers.

Latest season brought him back to life but only as the evil version of himself that was half demonic in the first place.

i mean, i like dragon sets a lot, so im not complaining from the toy front, but when thats their powerup every year then they just throw away pikachu for some cool motorcycles next year in the show, its a bit annoying

the pirate series was my favorite overall toy/show combined though

Don't forget that the afterlife was also connected to the realm of the Djinns and after she/it got pulled beneath the waves into oblivion by Nya, the entire Djinn realm imploded, kicking off the next season and bringing in its big bad.

Which still happened except now Nadakhan is trapped in his lamp and cant do anything to stop it.
In hindsight him and Morro were pretty tragic villains for a show like this.

If you haven't watched it in a while you can still watch SOG. The only thing you need to know about it is that wu got trapped in a time stream last season and that pixal lost her body. and know about echo zane since I think he will show up eventually

they did a mini that basically recaps the whole show (compartmentalized into characters, weapons, villains, etc). they reveal that a bit of the overlord survives in zane.

They really should have ended it at there. Seriously with all the retcons and backpedeling, the show is really reaching Supernatural's level of lazy writing. Heck last season's villain, Harumi was probably the worst villain in the series. Her motivation and reasoning made absolutely no sense.

I wouldnt say Nadakhan is a tragic villain really, the last few episodes of the season he was in revealed that he never truly really gave a shit about his realm being destroyed and just used it as a justification for his crew to convince them to help with his plan to be a self wishing genie.
