>>100773229I always get embarrassed writing fanfiction, it always feels like my interpretation of someone else's work is inadequate, even when it in all likelihood isn't. As far as original ideas go:
-Fantasy world very similar to the real world, (albeit with different history, geography, etc.) except that there is a second dimension that is slowly surfacing and engulfing the world. Anyone ever read "Nightwatch?" It's kinda like the Gloom in that it is the source of superhuman abilities, except it is literally colliding with and destroying the normal world. More and more people are born with superhuman abilities, monsters pop up everywhere, eventually the world itself starts fading, to be replaced by the other dimension, although "normal world" aspects can remain in the new dimension as a result of the collision, anyone that can't survive in the new dimension is screwed.
-a couple hundred people are put in cryo-stasis and wake up 100 million years in the future. Nearly all traces of human society have vanished, and they have to start anew, but they also have to compete with not only strange and unfamiliar wildlife, but other sentient species that evolved over time, many of which are at antiquity levels of progress.
-Breakthroughs in genetic engineering allow for a company to genetically engineer elves, orcs, dwarves, etc. They sell them by adoption and it becomes insanely popular, landing them in the Fortune 500. They milk this in every way they can, creating genetically engineered fantasy monsters as well, but also crafting entire cultures for their genetically engineered fantasy races and towns for them that also serve as theme parks. The fantasy races have the invented culture forced upon them from childhood by overeager parents/the company They know it's all fake and forced on them by the corporation to make more money, but they either accept it or kill themselves in despair as they have nothing else to call their own.
