The power's always been spread around. The original run had the Lieutenant Marvels who got it because of the technicality of sharing Billy's name. And it will probably be like the book where doing so is only a temporary spell.

Dang. I hate that Johns retcon mandated shit. Shits on Freddie and Mary being more important and looks like Mary won’t be his sister either. Also, having the black girl being called Dudley eliminates the likelihood of Uncle Dudley ever appearing again. The whole foster home shit sucks.

She’s 22 IRL. I wish they actually had her be the transformer version of Mary and had someone closer to the kid playing Billy’s age. Then don’t hire any other actors for transformation versions because Freddie should stay a kid in his and the diversity kids shouldn’t exist.

I don't know about anyone else, but I thought 'The Curse of Shazam' would be the perfect plot to introduce Shazam to modern audiences. Shame The Rock won't be in it as Black Adam though.

In Curse of Shazam the Wizard passes his responsibilities onto Billy rather than making him his champion, so the name makes a tad more sense. Its still a weaker name but its a matter of circumstance. Copyright issues mean they couldnt market him as Captain Marvel anyway, and you cant market a Superhero comic or movie well when you cant even say the name of the main character.

It’s not archaic. It’s what the character was known as for his entire existence. And calling him Shazam is beyond dumb because the whole point is that it’s the magic word he says to transform. Adding shot like “it only works when he means it” is dumb as fuck.

From the rumors it sounds like the Black Adam solo film will probably be based on Superman/SHAZAM! First Thunder. Which would be a better story for his character anyway
