OK so I had this conversation with my brother about which film is debatable the worst Dreamsworks film.

Shark Tale or Bee Movie?

>Day 1 : Shrek, Fiona and Donkey arrive to Far, Far Away after a pointless scene of Donkey making clicking noises. Fiona reunites with her parents. Dinner incident. Fairy Godmother introduction and musical number. Shrek and Fiona argue in bedroom. FG tells the king to whack off Shrek. King goes to the bar and hires Puss. King goes to Shrek's bedroom and sets up a trap for him.
>Day 2 : Shrek and Donkey meet Puss in the forest, who joins them after an assesination attempt in a way that feels forced. They go to FG's factory, don't get any solutions from her, and then steal the beauty potion and escape. Shrek and Donkey drink the potion, take shelter in a barn, and then faint as the potion starts to make effect ( Fiona also faints )
>Day 3 : Shrek and Donkey awake as human and stallion. Fiona is also a human again now. Shrek steals a bunch of clothes and goes to meet with Fiona, yet a contrived switch a roo happens and Shrek abandons Fiona with Charming ( apparently forgetting that she'll turn into an ogre again by midnight ) They go to a bar and overhear that FG and King will drug Fiona with a love potion. They escape from the bar yet are captured and locked in jail. Gingy and the others see the news on tv, somehow reach Far Far Away in a few hours and rescue them. Giant gingerbread man is built. I Need a Hero sequence takes place. FG gets killed in final battle. King turns back into frog, Shrek and Fiona reconcile and turn back into ogres, Livin la Vida Loca dance ending happens, and then Dragon shows up out of nowhere with kids
Very cramped story. Don't like it at all

Notice how i never mention Puss again after his introduction. He's that pointless. Only contribution he has after joining them is climbing all the way up to where the beauty potion was, cutting a hole through the glass and grabbing it. Other than that, he does nothing ( especially in Day 3 )

Shrek could've still handled the situation in a more mature way or try to talk about it with Fiona. What did he expect? Return to the swamp the same day they arrived to Far, Far Away despite Fiona wanting to stay and expect everything to go back to normal without her complaining once?

Shrek being pig-headed at least makes sense with his character since the first movie, Oscar being both extremely selfish and retarded makes him completely unlikable even if he "learns his lesson" by the final act of the movie. Then why do you keep sharing your opinions if you expect anyone to listen to you? If you have an argument and want to convince people just saying "I like it" isn't going to cut it and that's basically all you do. Even worse, you spam in place of any attempts to appeal to someone emotionally or logically, it's the equivalent of trying to be the loudest person in the room because you think it makes you sound smarter. Came out the same year as ST, and they admittedly feel similar in a lot of ways due to being produced at the same time. Not the same team or building, but Katzenberg was still the exec producer of both.

It's dumb to compare them. Bee Movie was made after Dreamworks got spun off in its own independent studio in 2004, plus after they started their deal with Paramount in 2005. They were made in different eras, despite there being only a few years between them

Dreamworks did change between both. Nevermind that Eisner was no longer at Disney by 2005, plus traditional animation films were no longer being made. Shark Tale was made and premiered during a very transitional era for everyone. The future looked a bit uncertain back in 2002-2003

Objectively, it did better critically and financially. Basically, it goes Shrek 2 was Dreamworks at their highest highs then Shark Tale was their lowest low, then things started to pick up again right after.

Madagascar 2 is worthless tripe. Even they knew it, since the third movie makes no reference to any of the characters introduced in it. Hard to believe critics said it was better than the original ( which wasn't great, but still a lot better )

Oscar dancing and singing U Can't Touch This is one of the funniest Dreamworks moments ever. Lenny's reaction in the background, the camera never changing position and how neither Lino or the shark mafia' reactions are shown are all hilarious.
