Thanks, Dharma !
I can understand Cinebook going with the Yellow M first. You lose a bit of context, but starting with Swordfish and Great Pyramid would probably have discouradged a lot of readers, while Yellow M is a self contained story and the pinnacle of the story.
There's no excuses for their botched Bluecoats run, tho.Did you guys know Olrik is based upon E.P.Jacobs looks? I don't know of many authors that pictured themselves as the villain in their books. Granted, as Jacobs wanted to be an opera singer, he might have had an attraction to the roles of villains.
>>104131038Just not as good for me. It takes talent to reinvent an established series, and so far they've just aped Jacobs. It can't work with that kind of mindset, even if the books aren't awful by any means.
Spirou had tons of authors at the helm, and only a few of them made a decent work. With a series that's the brainchild of one person, it's even more difficult.
I'd prefer if they tried "Blake & Mortimer made by X", like they did recently with Disney comics, Valerian or Lucky Luke; it gives the author more freedom, yet is often more respectful of the original work in the end.
