I think the Ai No Kusabi OVAs from 1992 are the best yaoi anime there is to find. The animation is great, the soundtrack is memorable, the plot is decent, and it actually tried to be something else, rather than just cater to its audience.

I never thought I'd actually find something well-made while watching yaoi, so it really took me by surprise after I saw its ending.
