I mean I remember how everyone was dead certain Bon Bon would somehow have Jackie act like a vapid bitch and Marco would become disillusioned with his crush and realize his feelings for Star. Everyone cited your reasons; she's just a cardboard cutout character, no depth no development no personality, her only role is to be Marco's crush and make him realize his feelings for Star, she hasn't been developed so far, so therefore she'll never be developed into a deeper character.
Well, to everyone's surprise she was amazing and Marco was still with her after Bon Bon.
Then when Just Friends was rolling around, everyone again was 100% sure it was gonna be about Marco realizing his feelings for Star and dropping Jackie, again because she hasn't had development, she only serves the purpose of being a temporary obstacle to starco and now will be dropped.
Instead, she got a bit more development and kissed Marco two more times, rising into the position of official gf.
So, I think that anyone predicting Marco totally realizing his feelings for Star and dropping Jackie almost instantly and her then being cut from the show is probably just deluding themselves out of hope. It won't happen that easily, because emotional relationship drama hooks and intrigues viewers like nothing else - it's torture, but it keeps you invested, keeps you watching. Also, just resolving everything like that, she said it that's it, is bad writing. I get the feeling that Nefcy's planning a longer ride of gut-wrenching feels and emotional growth and hard choices, based on how the late season 2 went for Star and how her behavior actually was addressed as destructive. Laying all that groundwork for a good show burn and then just shoving them together now would be too soon, too easy, too obvious. They're better than that.
