Yes I know there are episodes that show he longs for that, but I still think it would be bitter sweet if we see him trying to do things that don't exist yet. I also think it would be interesting if Jack used his knowledge of the future to fully prepare Earth for every eventuality and helps usher in a utopia from his precognitive knowledge of resources, technology and pending disasters. Defeating Aku in battle would be his legend, but peacefully saving the world would be his legacy.

Was also thinking Ashi would take Jack's mantle as the hero of time. Though I think it's going to be her that eventually goes back in time and kills Aku. Jack would probably rapidly age if he went back.
