Calling it now. Starco Happens in Beach Day then Gone Baby Bone is Star and Marco breaking things off with Kelly and Tom. The Baby in Gone Baby Gone refers to a a boyfriend/girlfriend not an actual baby. And Sad Teen Hotline is Tom throwing a hissyfit over being dumped again.

There was a leak of that episode, Sad Teen Hotline, that showed Tom burning furniture in Marco's house. So i think he is gonn have trouble letting go of Star and decides decides he's entitled to get back at Marco and Star. That poster will probably come back up during that scene and someone will make Tom call the hotline.

I really like how Glossaryck's attitude starting changing towards Star after the episode By the Book earlier in the season.

That was the best part for me in hindsight, understanding that Glossaryck had gone completely rogue, and was using everyone to get whatever he wanted.

Then the show got rid of all of its writers in season three.

No, weirdly most of the writers stuck around from S2 to S3 even though it feels like they might as well have been made by two different crews.

Sometimes there's speculation that Giancarlo Volpe as an episode director in S2 may have been keeping the show together better than the later stuff turned out, since he left during the production of Battle for Mewni, but there's no actual proof for or against him specifically having that much influence.

I know whats her face becoming a director probably made a lot of the "subversive" shit happen like 'clearly set up a villain and then do nothing with her for two entire seasons because maybe the real villain is white people or star i guess.". Glossaryck burning it just so he can have a toasty fire seems more like the "canon" answer. Meta-wise, it was just so the writers can have another quick rat imagery which Bon Bon was really hammering in to foreshadow Ludo's eventual arrival.

The first time I saw that episode I really thought the joke was supposed to be that it was a vibrator or dildo and Star just didn't know what it was. The biggest problem is that Mewni wasn't actually interesting enough a setting to carry the show by itself.

Echo Creek was pretty boring in and of itself, but it worked as the core setting because of the contrast it provided to Star's wackiness and the other dimensions that she took Marco to visit. (Oh yeah, remember when visiting other dimensions for fun was a thing in this show?)

That was back when when thought season 3 might actually deliver on the hype that season 2 built up. And that the Mewni characters would be an interesting supporting cast (the Earth supporting cast having been the weakest part of seasons 1-2). But instead we have stuff Tom getting an expanded role and the show during literally nothing with the fact that he's the PRINCE OF HELL, instead just making him a generic submissive boyfriend to Star. All in an attempt to create a role-reversal of the love triangle from season 2. Or River having the "LOL I'm an idiot" factor dialed up to 11 and completing ignoring the part where he's also a superhumanly strong barbarian warrior. Or bringing up the fact that there are multiple other kingdoms in Mewni that are basically client states of the Butterflies and then doing literally nothing with it, barely even using them as background scenery.

Calling the finale now. Eclipsa goes full evil and is about to deliver a killing blow to Star before Tom sacrifices himself to save her. Star finally realizes Tom truly loved her and how badly she screwed up. This gives her the strength to defeat Eclipsa and take her rightful place as Queen. Guilt over Tom and the weight of her responsibilities cause her to refuse Marco who ends up with either Kelly, Janna, or a returning Jackie.

Fact: s2 was mostly about building expectations for the future seasons which ended up being a disappointment.

Which is why the very heavy Starco episodes have to be sporadic. Their relationship can dictate the entire show's narrative, and creates development for side characters, like Tom and Kelly's entire existence, talks with Eclipsa, shifting the main setting, etc.

And the longer the show has gone the more true that has become. Only designated "big relationship episodes" get to have any movement in any of the characters' relationships. Everything gets stuck in stasis in the intervening episodes (and the side character love interests mostly don't even show up), no matter how little sense it makes for the characters to ignore what just happened.

It should actually make SOMEWHAT more sense post-Curse, due to the placebo of effect of "removing the curse has to remove the romantic feelings". But the way the characters started out season 4 as if the emotions they'd gone through in Booth Buddies, Divide and Conquer never happened was just bullshit. Likewise the way season 3 had them acting the same way about Starcrushed and Battle for Mewni.

The show wasn't so bad about this back in late season 2. From Bon Bon through Starcrushed they made sure it was obvious that Star was struggling with her feelings rather than just literally not acknowledging them.

The book has Star say in her journal that she understands things on Earth, and LITERALLY the very next line is about her being confused about things on Earth.

Also, the next page has her saying that of course she doesn't have a crush on Marco, while writing stuff making it obvious that she does have a crush on him. Lying to herself has always been one of Star's flaws, and that's true in her journal entry in the book too.

I honestly wonder whose call it was to give the characters periodic amnesia. You're right in it happening both in S3, and then again in S4. It honestly wouldn't have been that jarring if they had at least recognized that those are things that would cause a character to give pause at a key moment.
Maybe with some apprehension before responding to the character affecting their feelings. Perhaps the director instructing the voice actors to add in some hesitation or trepidation into the delivery of some telling dialogue between the characters. Hell, even a sudden screen-flash to cue the audience remembering a key plot point affecting the response has been a heavy handed utilization used in the past
But to just go complete radio silence after these kinds of major events is disingenuous to your audience, at the very least.

What if it's a spell that actually sends anyone with monster dna to another dimension permanently severed/CLEAVED from Mewni? And the final episode is Star (or Eclipsa) realizing it must be cast for peace to work? And then it turns out that the Butterflys are part-monster so they end up in the monster dimension, and Star can never see Marco again.

And ending twist is...this is where the monster arm comes back with a vengeance.

It's still a frustrating way to keep a zombie relationship going past the point where it should've ended, though. (Especially since it was a bad writing choice to have that relationship even begin.)

When it comes to Star and Marco on the other hand, these are characters who are interacting in like 90% of the episodes. It's infuriating how the show keeps having them go through "big emotional moments" that are surely going to shake up their relationship and they couldn't possibly ignore it. Then in the next episode, they ignore it.

Considering her closeness to the storyboarder crew, her previous work with numerous staff members on Gravity Falls, her social media presence and her relationship with Nefcy, I think she holds the most sway on that staff compared to other directors. "Mewmans" is the term the show uses to describe the humanoid inhabitants of Mewni.

"Mewnian" is an adjective that can be applied to various things from Mewni, ex. in one episode Star a box of "Mewnian termites" and I think also their language.

Both terms are found in the show and books, but Mewmans is the one consistently applied to the people.

There are two main plots, both linked to trust.

1- Eclipsa is the new Queen and is slowly trying for things to be more fair, but as she is mixing monsters and mewmans that makes her really unpopular with the latest group. Star is trying to make the mewmans trust her but constantly fails and Eclipsa has to deal with the outcome later.

2- Globgor.
Eclipsa wants him to be free but understands the kingdom go first and keeps him in the crystal though this makes her suffer.
Star is afraid Eclipsa will release him if given the chance so she hides the old book of spells from her. So Star is trying to make others trust Eclipsa while she doesn't trust her herself.

Extra plot: Glossaryck hinted that Star visiting the Realm of magic twice will have horrible consequences.

No but seriously I guess it would be about Eclipsa's struggles in ruling Mewni and the mystery of Globgor/Star, her family's, and Mewni's adjustment to this/OMG WILL STARCO HAPPEN (yes). I'm sure there will also be some twist like you said, either with Globgor or the Realm of Magic or both, though the episode titles don't seem to leave much room for huge events.

It really does just feel like some extended fanfic version of what happened after S3, in that most of it is almost throwaway fluff and trying to make Eclipsa seem appealing. Star has very little to do in her own show now and it actually kind of depresses me if I think about it.

I didn't feel like S3 after Battle for Mewni felt like it had much of a theme either until around Monster Bash or so, so I guess Cornonation might be when they actually try to make things dramatic.

Im not sure what you are getting at. Jushtin is portrayed as being the far better ruler while Solaria is a genocidal psycho. That fact that he got forced to give up the wand and the throne is painted as something really bad which ended awfully for everyone. The thing is the first plot is unnecesary.
Eclipsa could perfectly be running the kingdom off-panel while Star goes on wacky adventures with her friends. You can perfectly establish that mewmans are slowly accepting change and that's it.

Only Globgor's plot and the Realm's are really important from my point of view. In fact, all episodes concerning Globgor's liberation have been amazingly good.

Not that anon, but I'm still hoping this picture doesn't just turn out to be Meteora fighting Star. It would also somewhat redeem the use of Eclipsa for me.

But I'm not really expecting it by now. I dunno, after having her sing an inspiration song and get a heartwarming ending and all that, at most I can just see her doing this out of desperation for Globgor not being freed or something, if I'm being realistic based on what's been shown. It probably is, but its quality has hit the well ever since the second season that Starcofags can only hold on to the "cute and perfect" charade through fanart and porn.
