Domon literally wears a cape. Think of them as superheroes duking it out for the greater good.
Also Gundam Maxter is the best Gundam in that series. Shining Gundam is a close second.

How far in are you? The earlier episodes have a lot of unnecessary episodes mixed in with some good ones but once they get to Hong Kong it becomes consistently great. Has one of the best endings in Gundam too.

Except for the times it doesn't work. Then Domon just has to get angry at one of his pals being in danger or the like and its unstoppable again. I probably shouldn't expect anything more from anime I guess.
