After 10 years of 4chan, several of which were spent typing NIGGERS in the captcha field, debating with the "AI" whether a bridge is just the railing or the complete structure... I am now here.

I don't know why I hadn't made the decision sooner. I don't mean that in a "this is all I've ever dreamed of" kind of way, but genuinely, why did I tell myself for so long that paying, for a site I spend a lot of time on, was out of the question?

I find Wikipedia useful, so why have I never given it money? Why is it that whenever a site throws a pop up saying "We know ads suck (lol) so please give $1 a month instead!" my automatic reaction is to remember to never browse that site again?

What is the likelihood of anyone running a successful (not necessarily very popular, just highly rated by its users) website that's not an e-commerce site, with no ads, with the user happy to pay a few bucks to use it? Or would the general population be much happier with minute long unskippable ads as long as they're not being asked to part with a buck?
