I thought it was better than the force awakens, but it still had lots of problems. I dislike the whole premise of the new series. It makes no sense that the Empire would be back and so little would have changed. They won at the end of part 6. It’s depressing to see them still hiding in a cave decades later.

what good did all the victories do at the end of part 6?
its not like everybody working for the empire is inherently evil, their just dudes from planets that are doing their military service.
all it would have taken is for ackbar to get on a mic and say 'hey everyone, the bad guys are dead, we can all get along now!' [fade to closing montage of people celebrating and playing with each other]
Also, this new chick is too good with the force. literally every jedi and sith need to train for long periods of time to master it but she can just instantly grrl power! her way thru the force

idk why with all the money they're spending on this they couldn't hire a writer or two that could write a story that actually makes sense. i mean i know its star wars but how hard is it to make a movie make at least a little sense?

Would Sidious be so dumb as to not have a chain of command for his Empire? I doubt it, he was getting old and might have needed some days off from monarching, especially if he was sick. Sure more people would have hope once the death star was destroyed and ready to fight against the Empire and perhaps traitors from within saw hope; however what was left of the Empire after Darth Vader and Darth Sidious were dead wasn't going anywhere without a fight.

That part is plausible though. A MAJOR issue with absolute rulers is fear of being killed, so they intentionally do things to make succession difficult. This results in the autocrat killing off everyone around him who is competent to be leader, so such nations usually do descend into chaos when the god emperor dies.
